Following in the part-time horologist footsteps of legendary Colombian racer Juan Pablo Montoya, Brazilian ex-F1 driver Barichello has worked with custom Rolex specialists Artisans de Geneve on a unique limited edition of the Daytona: La Barichello. Last year they worked on the world’s first skeleton dial Rolex Daytona, and for this year, the Geneva-based master craftsmen have collaborated with Rubens Barrichello to customize his Rolex Daytona, by adding the mechanical style of racing cars to the watch.
They gave his Rolex Daytona a makeover to create “La Barrichello”, a strikingly and heavily modified Cosmograph Daytona with an open-worked movement. Artisans de Genève would have never imagined the challenge that awaited them when Rubens Barrichello came with the project to revisit his Rolex Daytona. Together, they reinterpreted the timepiece to give it a highly mechanical style, reflecting the pilot’s love for racing.
